SUMMARY: This poem is about the poet feeling very tried and sad in a December midnight when he thinks about his passed wife Lenore. Then he hears someone rapping at his door, and gives to open the door, but he sees no one. Later, he hears someone rapping at his door again. This time when he opens the door, he sees a raven, whose flies in and sits on the head of a statue over the door. The poet asked for its name, the raven says "nevermore", when the poet tells the raven to leave, but the bird refuses and remains forever above the poet’s door.

PERSONAL RESPONSE: I think the poem is very difficult to understand because there are many old English words used by the author. The poem has many rhyme words which makes it easier to remember and easier to read. I like the mood because it makes me feel suspenseful and mysterious. I think the poem has many true feelings that are expressed by the author and makes me a little sad. In addition, I really like this poem.
