MY REACTION
The Bluest Eye is about a tragic life of Pecola who was rejected form society by both her friends and her family. She hated her look and the color of her skin and eyes. She despised her extreme poverty and felt not as good as the whites. She was persecuted by her father who rapes and makes her impregnated. Because of all of these tragic experiences, she wants to obtain a blue eye, which symbolizes that she wants to be white. She always prays for her eyes to turn blue.
The message I got from this book is that ethnic discrimination could destroy a person’s dignity that is being discriminated. I think that the author was successful in getting the message across because the author characterizes Pecola as a person who lost her dignity, in which she was rejected from society by both her friends and her family and her father rapes and makes her impregnated and people who have not experienced discrimination and tragedy in their life. Perhaps the author wants them to know how tragic the people who are in the same situation as Pecola are.
The bad points about this novel are that this novel is too sad, and
because of the poor organization, it is almost impossible to understand and comprehend. In addition, this novel is too boring. The good points about this novel are that the author’s characterization of Pecola, in which it makes us feel the tone of the author. In addition, this novel is a very good literature to read. I think my friends should not read this novel, because it is too sad, in which Pecola was rejected from society by both her friends and her family and Pecola’s father rapes and makes her impregnated and faced many discrimination by others. In addition, my friends should not read this novel because it is too boring.

of the author. I think I will and will not read novels by this author. I will read novels by this author because it will help my gain more knowledge on literature. I will not read the novel by this author because I think the author’s novel is too boring and the way how the author writes is boring. This novel helps me gain more knowledge on literature and helped my learn more vocabulary.
