REGENT TASK 1

In modern society, it is very hard to raise a child and it talks a village to raise a child. According to Ms. Clinton, parents, teachers, neighbors, ministers and the people the children know are responsible for raising America’s children.

There are many problems in modern society for us to raise a child. Ms. Clinton says that our old problems have grown even larger today. Today’s children are facing the break up of family, child abuse, violent and the temptations of drugs, sex, alcohol and greed. Today’s crimes keep us from locked door. Extended family rarely lives in the same house.

Ms. Clinton is grateful that she had hardworking and devoted parents as a child. Her father puts a family first and the economy supports her family. She went for challenging school works. Her childhood is on how other children are raises. Ms. Clinton would minimize her daughter Chelsea’s suffering from this society, she doesn’t want her daughter to be affected by religion, ethic conflicts and other things. She learns that her daughter’s friends affect her daughter.

Ms. Clinton chose the African proverb, "it takes a village" as the title of her speech because she felt the proverb explained how we should raise our children. Ms. Clinton mentioned "it takes a village to raise a child", it shows that it is involve with many people to raise a child and everybody in this village should responsible for the raise of a child. Ms. Clinton defined a village as a network of values and relationships that support and affect our lives. In this village, we support and strengthen each other. We have to take responsible for each other’s child and be self-evidence. In this country of hopes and opportunity, we should live as a village, family.

It takes a village to raise a child is the responsibility in this country. We should responsible for the children in this village and to avoid a brave new world of dehumanizing and inhospitable, and to reduce the problems of the modern society. We also have to build a strong community if we take a village to raise a child.
